She was diagnosed with double pneumonia caused by an aggressive strain of strep-pneumococcal. Angelica Hale desperately needed life-saving medical intervention and was put on ECMO life-support at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston. The patient suffered from multiple organ failures, and her kidneys did not recuperate. The process of peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis later became her new normal. Her return home was finally made after an eighteen-day stay in the hospital after a time when she was in danger of dying to the long road back to good health. Her life had been forever changed. Angelica had been on dialysis for a year-and-ahalf before finally being able to undergo the most important operation of her life: a transplant of the kidney. Her mother was the sole person who was able to donate the kidney. Angelica and her mother had the surgery to remove their kidneys successfully on 13 September 2013, at Emory University Hospital and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston, two hospitals located across from one another. Angelica Hale pursued her dream of being a star for years after.
